A healthy yet tasty recipe is an utmost importance for many of us. 


Serving for 4 members:

  • Chana dal – 200grams
  • Curd – 1bowl
  • Salt – To Taste
  • Asafetide (hing)- 1 pinch
  • Turmeric- a pinch
  • Curry Leaves (handful)
  • Coriander Powder-1tsp
  • Fennel (Saunf)-1tsp
  • Water 
  1. Overnight Soak dal in sufficient amount of water.
  2. Grind  into thick paste add salt, pepper, asafetida and add curd. Cover it and keep aside in warm place for at least 12hours to 18 hours till it ferments 
  3. Grease the idly maker . Mix the batter gently . Pour into the stand and steam it.
  4. Let it cool down.
  5. Sauté with mustard seeds, some mustard oil, coriander powder  , fennel seeds or powder along with curry leaves.

Serve with Green Chutney
